Thank You Harold & Wanda Wake

The Wake Family Foundation has bestowed the Stanley Hose Company over $560,000.00 in grants to help us with our mission. Mr. Harold Wake spent 18 years of his youth living in Sherman, NY. Upon graduating from Sherman High School, Mr. Wake was drafted into the United States Army Air Force during WWII. He spent a portion of his military career in the Central Valley in California where he decided to stay after his honorable discharge. Harold began his business career as a controller at Perma Rain Irrigation, a commercial and agricultural design company in Lindsey, California in 1948. He was instrumental in growing the business and eventually purchased the company, becoming President and General Manager. Mr. Wake retired from Perma Rain in 1977 at the age of 52. In retirement, he designed and fabricated a new drip irrigation system, invested in other companies, and traveled with his wife Wanda. The Wake Family Foundation has been very generous to the Stanley Hose Company and other non-profits in Sherman. Harold has many fond memories of his youth in Sherman and wanted to give back the community that in many ways helped shape him into the person he is today. Mr. Wake requested that these grants be in memory of three people that had a tremendous impact on his life, his father Harry, his mother Grace, and his Uncle George Edmunds. Harold expressed that he spent many enjoyable days at his Uncle George’s house growing up in Sherman. A very sincere thank you to Harold, Wanda, and the Wake Family for their very generous donations. As a small, rural fire department it is hard to generate the large amount of funding needed to operate efficiently. These grants were very important for our department and we are forever grateful for the Wake Family’s generosity.

In Memory of Harry & Grace Wake and George Edmunds
